Rules and Conditions of Competition

The Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association and local rules published by the host club govern play.

RULES

OUT-OF-BOUNDS is defined by inside points, at ground level of large white stakes and the inside edge of paved roads.

GROUND UNDER REPAIR includes active fire ant hills (even when in a hazard) and French drains.

SODDED AREAS:  Except in a hazard, if a ball lies in or touches a sod seam, the player may, without penalty, lift the ball and clean it.  The player must drop the ball as near as possible to where it originally lay, which is not nearer the hole, avoids interference by the condition, and is not in a hazard or on a putting green.

EMBEDDED BALL THROUGH THE GREEN:  The local rule as prescribed in Appendix I is in effect.  This states that through the green a ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground, other than sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned, and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole.  The ball, when dropped, must first strike a part of the course through the green.  Through the green is the whole area of the course except the teeing ground and putting green of the hole being played and all hazards on the course.

CONDITIONS

TIME OF STARTING:  When a player is late arriving, she may join her group but may not make up any missed holes.
