Standing Rules

March 7, 2007, Last Amended August 2025

  1. Each club shall host the Association for one day’s play during each playing season unless a decision has been voted on by the Board of Directors to permit a bye.  Courses undergoing renovations may apply to the Executive Committee for an exception.   It is the responsibility of each club to honor a financial commitment to field a full team at each day of play.
  2. Tournaments will be conducted on an inter-club basis.  Each team will have a maximum of thirteen (13) members on their roster with 8 playing in an event.   Should a team need to add players to complete their roster, substitutes may be used.  A player must have an established USGA Handicap Index of 24.7 or less to join.  Substitutes may have a Handicap Index higher than 24.7 but will be limited to play at a 24.7.  A member moving from her original club during the playing season will lose her membership in this Association and may no longer play from her original club.  If accepted as a member in another participating club her dues will be considered paid for that year.
  3. All events will be played under USGA rules, league rules and local rules authorized by the host club.  Play will be Stableford format on a point system basis with each player receiving 90% handicap allowance.  This is calculated off the Course Handicap.  Points as follows:  Net bogey = one point; net par = two points; net birdie = three points; net eagle = four points; net double eagle = five points.  The six (6) high scorers from each club will have their points totaled for each day of play.
  4. Prize money will be awarded at each event for the following:
    • Highest Individual Stableford Points (3 Places Paid).
Tiebreakers will be determined in Golf Genius using USGA (last 9, 6, 3 1 holes).
    • Low Individual Gross Score (3 Places Paid).
Tiebreakers will be determined in Golf Genius using USGA (last 9, 6, 3 1 holes).
    • Foursome Highest Stableford Points (Four team members) (2 Places Paid)
Tiebreakers will be determined in Golf Genius using USGA (last 9, 6, 3 1 holes).
An appropriate proxy with a similar index will be used in the event a group does not have a foursome.
    • Closest to the Pin – as recorded on each hole.
  5. The host club will be responsible for pairings.  Pairings will be made with foursomes consisting of players from different clubs with similar indexes.  On the final day clubs will be paired according to total points in the standings.
  6. The official scorecard will be provided by the host club.  Players are responsible for the verification of their proper handicap.  The gross score should be recorded on both the scorecard and Golf Genius.  At the end of the round actual GROSS score on both the scorecard and Golf Genius must agree before returning the scorecard to their representative.  Any differences must be corrected on the scorecard and Golf Genius.  Club representatives will review scorecards vs Golf Genius prior to leaving the course.
  7. At the end of the season, the winning club will receive a traveling trophy for their team.  Awards will also be given to the top 35-50% of teams based on final standings.  In addition, there will be payment to the top 5 players with the highest individual average Stableford points for the playing season.  In order to qualify for an individual award a player must play a minimum of 6 events during the season. All ties will share the award.  The value and number of these awards is at the discretion of the Executive Board.
  8. Hole-In-One Fund:  Each playing member will pay $1 to participate in the hole-in-one club.  All members who were not on the roster the previous season will contribute $1 to the fund. This hole-in-one club fund is in addition to the Gulf Coast annual dues.  Any member making a hole-in-one on a Gulf Coast play day will be given a check for the amount of money in the hole-in-one fund.
  9. Use of Personal Carts.  Personal carts are not allowed during league play since they do not provide the same experience as club carts (e.g. GPS). In the case where a player is using a Cub Owned Leased Cart, these carts will be allowed since they are equipped with the same features as club carts (e.g. GPS).
  10. Medical accommodation: If a player needs a cart put into handicap mode, please contact the club pro shop prior to the event to make this accommodation. The League has no control over the clubs policies on using a cart in handicap mode (handicap flag).
  11. Drop Zones: Drop zones are not in effect during the play of GCWGA tournaments; host club local rules allowing for the use of Dropping Zones are not in effect.
